David Cato

David Cato joined Lee Health in 2006.

Leadership Responsibilities

David is the Chief Administrative Officer of Outpatient Services for Lee Health. His responsibilities include strategic, operational, and clinical direction for outpatient services and other Post-Acute and Rehabilitation areas. David works collaboratively with the health system team to achieve financial, operational, quality and safety; and strategic goals. Outpatient and Post-Acute Services are provided at multiple sites throughout Southwest Florida, offering a wide array services. As part of his role, David also serves as part of the Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida leadership team to provide enhanced access to outpatient services in the community.

Professional Experience

David is a graduate of the fall 2009 Leadership Lee County Class and has previously served as Chairman of the Chamber of Southwest Florida. David currently serves on the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce board. David has previously served on the Bonita Community Health Center Board of Directors. He has more than 20 years of health care experience, serving in areas of clinical and leadership positions within health care. He has served as the system director of rehabilitation services, system director of outpatient services, and vice president of outpatient operations prior to his current role at Lee Health.

Prior to assuming his current role, David spent more than eight years in the Shands health care system at the University of Florida. He served many roles throughout his tenure as a physical therapist, clinical coordinator, and manager of rehabilitation services. While at Shands, David served as a loaned executive for the United Way of Alachua County.

Education

David is a native Floridian and has a degree in physical therapy and a master’s degree in Business Administration, both from the University of Florida.

Memberships/Community Involvement

David is a member of American Physical Therapy Association and the Florida Physical Therapy Association. He has volunteered as a youth football, basketball and soccer coach over the past 10 years. He also is a Clinical Director for the Special Olympics overseeing “Fun Fitness” providing physical therapy screenings for the participating athletes at local, regional, and state Special Olympics events. David has volunteered for many local organizations on projects including IMPACT for Kids through the United Way as part of the Lee Health Ambulatory Team, the Salvation Army and Childcare of Southwest Florida through Leadership Lee County. David has volunteered through the Lee County School System serving as a Principal for a Day program and has been a coach for the Odyssey of the Mind program.
