Learn how to better manage your chronic pain

(Fort Myers, Fla. – Jan. 17, 2018) --- Larry Antonucci, M.D., MBA, Lee Health’s President & CEO, was elected and installed to the Safety Net Hospital Alliance of Florida’s (SNHAF) Board of Directors. The SNHAF advocates on behalf of Florida’s 14 safety net hospital systems.

Safety net hospitals provide highly specialized care to vulnerable populations—including uninsured, underinsured patients and families, and Medicaid recipients. These organizations also help train the next generation of doctors, advance public and population health, and provide lifesaving services like trauma and specialized care for women and children.

“Safety net hospitals and health systems like ours are reliant on government support, so the SNHAF’s advocacy is vital,” Dr. Antonucci says. “I am excited and proud to be part of the leadership team working to advocate for the resources we need to deliver the right care in our community.”

Dr. Antonucci has nearly 35 years of leadership experience—both as a practicing obstetrician/ gynecologist (OB/GYN) and as a health care executive.

In 2007, Dr. Antonucci joined Lee Health as Chief Administrative Officer for Cape Coral Hospital. By 2009, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Hospital Services for the health system and assumed the responsibility for Physician Services in early 2010. In October 2011, Dr. Antonucci was named Chief Operating Officer for the health system, and assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer in June 2017.

Prior to joining Lee Health, and for 24 years, Dr. Antonucci was a well-respected, practicing OB/GYN. In 1983, he co-founded Physicians Primary Care (PPC), a large, multi-specialty group practice in Lee County and served as its managing partner for many years.
