Lee Health to Provide Health and Wellness Services at Babcock Ranch
Opening Planned for April
(Fort Myers, Fla. – Jan. 11, 2018) - Residents of Babcock Ranch, the nation’s first solar city, will soon add physician offices and a state-of-the-art health and wellness center, staffed by experts from Lee Health. The Lee Health Board of Directors approved five-year lease agreements for more than 21,000 square feet of space in the Town Center to provide health care services including primary care physicians, rehabilitation services, and health and wellness services to Babcock Ranch residents and the surrounding community.
“We are excited to be the health and wellness partner at Babcock Ranch,” says Larry Antonucci, M.D., MBA, Lee Health President & CEO. “We have been entrusted with providing the care for residents of a brand-new community – which is a truly unique opportunity. As Babcock Ranch grows, we will continue to meet the health care needs of the community, just as we have done for more than a century in other Southwest Florida communities.”
In April, Lee Health plans to open health and wellness services including individual and group exercise, Pilates, massage, mind and body programs, as well as physical therapy. State-of-the-art equipment will include energy-efficient cardio and strength-training equipment; the facilities will also include a lap pool and multi-use half court for members. These services are expected to be available in April.
The community’s first primary care and medical specialty services will open in the summer, provided by Lee Physician Group. Occupational and speech therapy services will be added as needed.
“Providing a healthy lifestyle for our residents is one of the foundational tenets of Babcock Ranch, and we simply couldn’t have a better partner than Lee Health,” says Syd Kitson, Chairman and CEO of Kitson & Partners, developers of Babcock Ranch. “Our residents and neighbors will now have ready access to quality medical care, along with outstanding facilities for ongoing health and wellness activities. This is a tremendous partnership for Babcock Ranch.”
“This opportunity supports Lee Health’s strategic priorities to advance community health by providing prevention and wellness services in a new growth sector of Southwest Florida that currently has limited access to care close to home,” says Dave Cato, Lee Health Chief of Outpatient Services.
