Second Annual “Get in Rhythm” Event Set for Saturday at Coconut Point
As part of Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Month, physicians, nurses and clinical experts from Lee Health’s Shipley Cardiothoracic Center, Florida Heart Associates and Lee Physician Group – Cardiology will discuss new advances in the treatment of AFib – an irregular heartbeat that can cause major health problems.
Electrophysiologists Anuj Agarwal, M.D., and Roshan Vatthyam, M.D., will discuss what AFib is, signs and symptoms, treatment modalities and possible complications.
Paul DiGiorgi, M.D., cardiothoracic surgeon, will discuss surgical treatment options for AFib, including the Maze procedure and its success rates, as well as atrial appendage clipping procedures.
82-year-old Sherman “Davey” Jones will also be available at 9:30 a.m. to talk about his experience with the Maze procedure, and how it helped him return to his active lifestyle that includes swimming, exercising at the gym, golfing and gardening.
