Health care careers are in high demand, and Lee Health is always looking for ways to recruit – and retain – exceptional team members. One way we focus on recruitment and retention is through continuous learning and career growth and development. We encourage continuing education and support it through tuition reimbursement for eligible full-time employees. We also have an annual Education Award Program available to current employees, volunteers and their family members, and Lee County residents interested in pursuing a career in health care.

Each year, the application period for the Education Award Program runs from March 1 – April 30. The education grants are made possible through the support and generosity of the Lee Health Foundation and the Cape Coral Hospital, Gulf Coast Medical Center and Lee Memorial auxiliaries, as well as community philanthropists and health system advocates. We are grateful for the contributions from:

  • The Eloise M. Carlson Educational Grants fund,
  • Nathan Family Educational Excellence Grant,
  • The Jim Nathan Endowment Fund,
  • The Robert and Frances Feuchter Endowment,
  • The Edward and Gale McBride Education Scholarship,
  • The Madeleine R. Taeni Nursing Education Fund and
  • The Ellen McDonald Endowed Pediatric Nursing Scholarship (for those who plan to work in Pediatrics at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida).

The Education Program has helped hundreds of Lee County residents pursue and fulfill their career and education goals, which range from phlebotomy to bachelor or master of nursing degrees to physical therapy, health care management, cardiovascular technology, midwifery, biomedical science, social work and more. Since the program launched in 2015, 1,313 recipients have received $1,835,861!

Education is vital to growing and maintaining our workforce and ensuring the safest, highest quality care is available. Thanks to the generous funding from local benefactors, Lee Health is proud to have the opportunity to invest in our employees (current and future) through the annual Education Awards Program.
