Nearly six years ago, Southwest Florida lost a hero when Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller passed away after being shot in the line of duty. Officer Jobbers-Miller paid the ultimate price to protect and serve our community. Following his untimely death, his family, the Fort Myers Police Department and Lee Health joined forces to host a blood drive to make a difference in our community, help save lives and honor Officer Jobbers-Miller’s memory.

This year, the three-day 6th Annual Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller Blood Drive is set for July 23-25.

The blood drive kicks off at 8 a.m., Tuesday, July 23, in front of Lee Memorial Hospital with a ceremonial flag raising followed by remarks from the Jobbers-Miller family and representatives from the Fort Myers Police Department and Lee Health. The Lee Health Blood Mobile will be outside of Lee Memorial Hospital accepting donations from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., on Tuesday, July 23, and Wednesday, July 24. On Thursday, July 25, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., the Lee Health Blood Mobile will be onsite at the Fort Myers Police Department, 2210 Widman Way in Fort Myers, and the Blood Center at Lee Memorial Hospital will stay open until 7 p.m. to accept donations.

All blood donated at this drive, and with Lee Health, stays in Lee County to save lives in our community. Each summer, the Lee Health Blood Center experiences a dip in donations, and this year, there is a shortage of type O blood. Whatever your blood type, if you have been considering donating blood, the Jobbers-Miller Blood Drive is a great time to make a lifesaving donation in honor of the service and sacrifice of Officer Jobbers-Miller.

If you are not able to participate in the Jobbers-Miller Blood Drive, the Lee Health Blood Centers are open Monday through Friday. Visit www.LeeHealth.org/our-services/blood-centers for locations and hours of operations. You can also find a schedule for the blood mobiles, which are in locations throughout our community.
