Lee Health is committed to improving access to care for our patients, their families, residents throughout our community and even visitors. Through the years, we have opened new office locations, introduced new services and programs, and launched Lee Telehealth, so our patients had on-demand access to care via their smartphone, tablet or computer from the comfort of their own homes. In-home medical care recently got another upgrade when Lee Health partnered with DispatchHealth.
This service is ideal for the treatment of conditions that you would typically seek care for in an urgent care office, like the flu, cuts and lacerations that require stitches, sinus infections, strep throat, minor fractures, sprains and strains and many other conditions. The care team that comes to your home includes a physician assistant or nurse practitioner and a medical technician. An on-call emergency medicine physician is always available to consult with the care team.
The service is meant to be convenient – it is, and it is easy to use. When you request an appointment – which can be done without a referral by visiting www.DispatchHealth.com, you will explain your symptoms, provide some details about your illness or injury and note the name of your primary care provider. The DispatchHealth onboarding team will confirm it is not an emergency and that it’s safe to treat your medical condition at home. Within a few hours, the medical team arrives, ready to treat you in the privacy and comfort of your home.
In addition to treating your illness or injury, the care team will call in any prescriptions, update your doctor and handle billing with your insurance company. DispatchHealth is in-network with most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicare Advantage, and is often the same out-of-pocket cost of an in-network urgent care center. Costs will be different for each patient based on the level of care and insurance coverage, but it is definitely more cost-effective than a trip to the emergency department.
We recognize that our patients and neighbors throughout our community may want an in-person experience with a health care provider – versus the virtual option of telehealth – but may still feel nervous or anxious about the spread of COVID-19 or the flu. Our partnership with DispatchHealth helps us deliver the right care in the safety and privacy of the patients’ homes.
