At Lee Health, we are at the forefront of surgical innovation, embracing robotic-assisted surgery and continuing to grow our fleet of state-of-the-art robotic systems. Today, we have 29 robotic systems and a team of more than 100 robotic surgeons.
Throughout Lee Health, our surgeons perform a wide range of procedures, from lung biopsies and lobectomies to abdominal wall reconstruction, hysterectomies, prostatectomies, hip and knee replacements, spine fusions and more. Lee Health has one of the fastest-growing robotic bronchoscopy programs in the world, which means we are diagnosing lung cancer at earlier stages, allowing us to save more lives.
On Friday, Feb. 7, we are joining our partners at Intuitive (the company that develops surgical robots) to host a Thoracic Oncology Mobile Event in the parking lot at Gulf Coast Medical Center.
This event features a large truck that will display several surgical robots. Attendees will experience each step of the lung cancer patient’s journey—from diagnosis using state-of-the-art robotic technology with the Ion system through the treatment stage where cardiothoracic surgeons use the da Vinci robotic system to remove the lung cancer, sending many patients home cancer-free.
The Thoracic Oncology Mobile Event is open to the public on Friday, Feb. 7, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and again from 3-5 p.m. Visitors to the event will also have the chance to touch the surgical robots and experience the dexterity and ease of movement the robots provide our surgeons.
At Lee Health, we are proud of the robotic surgery program and the various ways our surgeons can use this technology to perform complex procedures with more accuracy and smaller incisions, which means patients experience:
- Smaller scars
- Shorter hospitalizations
- Lower risk of adverse side effects
- Faster overall recovery time
- Less pain
- Less blood loss
- Quicker return to normal activity
Join us on Friday, Feb. 7, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., or 3-5 p.m., to learn more about the ways we’re using surgical robots in the diagnosis, care and treatment of lung cancer.
