Growth of the lab increases access to essential preventive services for a heart-healthy Southwest Florida community

Lee Health’s Cape Coral Hospital’s Noninvasive Cardiovascular Services Lab has expanded to more than 7,500 square feet. It includes more access to noninvasive cardiovascular services, tests, and scans for the Southwest Florida community.

The expansion gives every resident and visitor in Cape Coral access to state-of-the-art noninvasive cardiovascular services and tools to help provide and ensure optimal heart health for all.

Noninvasive cardiovascular testing and preventive work can identify or rule out different types of heart disease as a cause of a patient’s symptoms. This can also determine any future risk for heart disease.

“Cape Coral’s population has been growing each year, and these expanded services will help support the area’s new residents and visitors as well as the current Southwest Florida population. We are pleased to be able to provide more access to noninvasive cardiovascular services and increase access to preventive care,” said Dr. Malissa Wood, vice president and chief physician executive of the Lee Health Heart Institute. “There is nothing more important than optimal heart health for our friends, neighbors, and loved ones.”

The lab currently does more than 1,700 procedures per month. The space of the new lab will be twice the size of the current facilities.

The Noninvasive Cardiovascular Services Lab will be located on the first floor of the hospital at 636 Del Prado Blvd. S., in Cape Coral.

Previously used space will be utilized to expand the Cape Coral Hospital Emergency Department, giving patients more space to receive timely and effective care.
