Innovative digital tool aims to transform the orthopedic patient experience from first symptom to full recovery

Lee Health is proud to announce the launch of Leah, a compassionate, conversational engagement platform powered by learnings from real patient experiences and purpose built AI. Created in service of patients suffering from hip, knee, and shoulder pain, Leah is designed to improve patient navigation to Lee Health services while providing access to always-on guidance, education, and empowerment through every stage of the orthopedic patient journey.

With demand for orthopedic services on the rise — especially among active adults and seasonal residents in our region — and the role of digital assistance expanding in healthcare, Leah launches at a critical moment. A trusted digital companion, Leah is designed to meet patients where they are in their care journeys, from early symptoms and conservative treatment to minimally invasive surgery and post-op recovery,

Leah includes a variety of patient-focused features, including:

  • 24/7 Access to Orthopedic Information via Digital Assistance – Leah is always on, providing immediate orthopedic guidance and assisting patients with decision making should they choose to seek an appointment or urgent care.
  • Personalized, Compassionate Conversations – Leah responds to each user’s unique situation, offering tailored guidance with an approachable, empathetic tone. This additional layer of emotional support aims to meet patients on a personal level, so they never feel alone.
  • Support Throughout the Care Journey – Whether managing pain at home, preparing for surgery, or healing afterward, Leah is there to support patients every step of the way. Regardless of where they are on their journey, Leah can offer assistance and a better understanding of what to expect clinically, physically, and emotionally.

“At Lee Health, we are committed to harnessing innovation to improve the patient experience,” said Dr. Iahn Gonsenhauser, Chief Medical Officer for Lee Health. “Leah, our new AI-powered guide, is designed to give people easy, convenient access to trusted orthopedic information anytime they need it. By empowering our community with the tools to better understand their health, we’re supporting more informed decisions and stronger connections to care."

This launch is part of Lee Health’s broader strategy to innovate beyond the walls of the clinic — connecting with patients earlier, supporting them between appointments, and ensuring no one navigates the orthopedic journey alone. Leah will guide patients to the most appropriate next step, whether that’s physical therapy, a surgical consult, or recovery support.
