New location in multi-use building will offer specialty, pediatric and mental health services

(Fort Myers, Fla. – Oct. 20, 2023) --- Groundbreaking for the Lee Health Bimini Square project will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 19 at the corner of Palm Tree Boulevard and Cape Coral Parkway. The location is expected to open in the summer of 2025.

Lee Health will provide medical services on the 1st and 2nd floor of the Bimini Square II building that includes adult primary care, cardiology services, imaging, breast health, lab services, pediatric primary care and behavioral health services.  The patients will have access to surface and garage parking.

Bimini Square II is the cornerstone building of the mixed used development on Cape Coral Parkway and Palm Tree Blvd.  The building is 77,000 sq. ft. and will have residential apartments on the 3rd and 4th floor.

Lee Health will also lease space on the 1st floor of the larger apartment building in Bimini Square I that will offer women’s health services and pediatric rehab.

Cape Coral is one of the fastest-growing cities in Southwest Florida and the new Bimini Basin center will help ensure access to physician services and primary care for those living and spending time nearby.

“We are committed to caring for our community, and we envision the Bimini Basin project to offer premier care to residents and visitors in southwest Cape Coral,” said Dr. Larry Antonucci, president and chief executive officer of Lee Health. “As the city continues to grow, its residents and visitors will need easy access to more primary and specialty care services, and we are happy to continue to fully expand our commitment to compassionate patient care in Cape Coral.”

Lee Health also has a variety of other Cape Coral projects in the works to address the needs of the growing location. These include expanding Cape Coral Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and other areas of the hospital as well as adding more specialty physician offices to the city. The Florida State University College of Medicine Internal Medicine Residency Program is also based out of Cape Coral Hospital.

The second phase of the Surfside Facility at Surfside Boulevard and Veterans Parkway is slated to be completed early next year. It will be home to orthopedics, rheumatology and rehabilitation specialists.

The outpatient center and the Bimini Basin project along with other expansion efforts gives patients in need of quality medical care the opportunity to receive that care closer to their homes, offices, and schools. This is expected to help decrease wait times and ensure more access to care for the Cape Coral and Southwest Florida community.
