Lee Health’s Injury Prevention Team Reminds the Community to Shine a Green Light After the Sun Sets on Nov. 18 for National Injury Prevention Day
Press ReleasesPosted:
(Fort Myers, Fla. – Nov. 17, 2023) --- National Injury Prevention Day falls each year on November 18 and Lee Health is raising awareness in our community about one of the leading causes of death in our community.
All adult acute-care hospitals and Golisano Children’s Hospital will be lit in green once the sun sets and Lee Health’s Injury Prevention Team is inviting others to participate and shine a green light on buildings, monuments and thoroughfares.
Lee Health’s Injury Prevention Team will be sharing practical tips on multiple social media outlets throughout the day for prevention education.
According to the Injury Free Coalition for Kids, injury and violence are the number one cause of death for children and adults who are one to 44 years old.
Bumps, bruises, cuts and scrapes are typical injuries for children who are still learning and navigating the world. However, serious and unintentional injuries, such as suffocation, drowning, motor vehicle crashes and other preventable injures, are a real threat that can cause disability or death for children ages one to 18.
