Lee Memorial Hospital Magnet Journey
Welcome from the Chief Nurse at Lee Memorial Hospital
As the Chief Nursing Executive, I am deeply committed to ensuring that our organization provides the highest quality care to every patient, every day. Achieving Magnet® recognition is a pivotal step in our ongoing journey to enhance the patient experience and to support our dedicated nursing staff.
Magnet® recognition is the gold standard for nursing excellence. It signifies that our nurses are empowered, supported, and have access to the tools and resources they need to provide exceptional care. For our patients, it translates to superior outcomes, enhanced safety, and a more compassionate, holistic care experience. For potential employees, it means that you would be joining a team of highly skilled professionals who are committed to not just achieving excellence but sustaining it..
We are proud of the progress we have made so far, and we remain focused on the steps ahead as we work toward achieving Magnet® designation. Our chief focus for 2025 will be improving Patient Experience. Together, we are building a legacy of excellence in nursing that will positively impact the care we provide to our community for years to come.

Lee Memorial Hospital Magnet Journey
Our Journey of Nursing Excellence began quite some time ago as we realized the benefit to our teams, our patients, and our community on going for Magnet® designation. In 2022 a Magnet Program Director was hired to organize and assist us on this journey. Since then, we have immersed ourselves in what it takes to become a Magnet® designated organization.
The team, even beyond nursing, has fully embraced the culture of quality, safety, and team excellence. They strive for the best care, the best outcomes, and are engaged in this journey we are on. We highly regard our teams’ engagement and celebrate them and their successes each day. This is not just a nursing journey, but a goal that touches every department within our organization and offers a great benefit to our community.
The five key components of the Magnet® model developed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center include:
- Transformational Leadership
- Structural Empowerment
- Exemplary Professional Practice
- New Knowledge, Innovations, and Improvements
- Empirical Outcomes
