"Golisano Children’s Hospital of SWLF is excited to announce that we can now provide advanced x-ray studies for pediatric urology concerns right here in our Pediatric Procedural Sedation Unit. This advanced x-ray is called Urodynamics and helps physicians better understand a patient’s bladder function and understand the underlying urologic issue behind their urinary problems. It helps our physician experts view urine flow, as it happens, using colored dye and the real-time view enables them to identify any issues and develop a treatment plan with the parents at the time of testing, right at the child’s bedside. That means, you come into the testing with qeustions and leave the same day with answers and a plan. The location of the testing in the Pediatric Procedural Sedation Unit provides direct access to a dedicated Child Life Specialist, which provides support and distraction for patients undergoing the procedure, as well as the availability of sedation if needed Having the highly trained specialists from Child Life there to explain the procedure in ways they can understand gives them confidence and their ability to distract patients during the procedure is essential to a successful study and compassionate care."
