Many people have asked Dr. Duerkes why he became a doctor who specializes in women’s health. Among other things, he cherishes the relationships he develops with his patients and their families. He understands that whether it’s pregnancy or gyn surgery, fear and anxiety may take over. It is these unique, sensitive, and sometimes scary scenarios that he believes create a relationship that doctors in other specialties of medicine may not have. It may be a hard life at times, but these moments keep him going.

Dr. Duerkes was drawn to Lee Health with the patients focus at the center of care. As healthcare systems change, it is easy for some systems to lose sight of the ultimate goal,
resulting in patients and staff being seen as just numbers. Dr. Duerkes is committed to maintaining or restoring the close physician-patient relationship that is often lost in corporate medical care settings.

    I meet Dr.Duerkes for first time.but after we started talking he made me feel like we knew each for years, i was very comfortable to ask questions and all my questions were answered ,Dr.Duerkes is very polite and professional.thank you again Dr.Duerkes.

    The medical assistant who checked me in was wonderful, had such a kind, caring, calm energy and was very attentive. After being in the waiting room for quite a while before my appointment and overhearing that there were multiple delays in patients ahead of me, I was so pleasantly surprised to have Dr. Duerkes come into the room, unrushed, take the time to connect with me as a patient and human, and provide a thorough evaluation and next steps. Ahead of time, he was very proactive in ordering the [ ] needed so we could discuss the [ ] in person. Highly recommend him and the team there - thank you for all you do for your patients every day.

    Doctor duerkes,James, im so thankful i came into this appointment a bit scared but he was able to address all my questions. When i forgot to ask something he came back within a few minutes to assist, this is the first time i seen a doctor do that. I’m so thank ful i had him it’s the first time i see such a caring doctor.

    Dr Duerkes was wonderful. Right away his introduction into the room was one of caring, like he truly wants to be there. He was present the entire time, never looking on a computer screen and staring at it while speaking with me. He never seemed rushed and answ ered every question of mine with care. When he came in he always knew of my recent health care events, which tells me that he even took time to glance at my chart prior to coming in, which quite frankly I think is nice. Even though I’m sure he had so much left to do, he took the time to remove my nexplanon as requested, without trying to tell me no or convince me otherwise, as another Lee gyn has done in the past. He even provided great [ ] option, and sent the [ ] instantly. [], my arm today looks great and feels well. His doctor manner was so wonderful and I hope he remains with the practice so that I can continue to have him as my doctor going forward.

    Dr Duerkes is absolutely amazing. He cared for me while I was pregnant last year with my son and I decided to continue my regular gyn care with him as well. He is great at explaining your care plan and is very informative. He even remembered my conditions whil e I was pregnant. I highly recommend him!
