Biography

As a pediatric ophthalmologist, Dr. Kovarik treats children with eye disorders using medical and surgical techniques. She believes that patient understanding is the key to successful communication and partnership with parents, and ultimately to successful treatment. 

She specializes in pediatric and adult strabismus (eye muscle disorders), amblyopia (“lazy eye”), retinopathy of prematurity (eye disease in premature infants), ptosis (droopy eyelids), nasolacrimal duct obstructions (blocked tear ducts) and eye trauma.
 
Dr. Kovarik grew up in Southwest Florida and returned back home to be close to family after completing her medical training. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and three young girls, going to the beach and exploring the work of local artists.

    It was very nice to get a call when someone cancelled, the office fit me in Thank you!

    We were scheduled to see [ ] just to get an updated lens prescription since Dr. Kovarik is booked until October. [ ] last appt was cancelled due to hurricane damage so it had been a year since his last appt and his [ ]. After the nurse assessed him, she felt h e needed to see Dr. Kovarik instead. Dr. Kovarik took time out of her busy schedule to see him and thoroughly evaluated him. She even decided to [ ] to make sure there wasn't something more going on in the back of his [ ]. She didn't have to take the time to see him but she did, which made me feel so much better. I'm also so glad the nurse to the initiative to make the decision that he needed to see Dr. K instead of the nurse practitioner.

    Honestly, from the experience of the multiple phone calls, call backs, then the front desk experience upon arrival, the apt and the check out process - there wasn't one bad experience. Everyone was friendly and more than helpful. The doctor explained everythin g out and settled our anxiety. We left feeling much better. There's a follow up MRI which was throughly explained to us as well. It was a great experience that we were very worried about. The whole staff did an amazing job. Very patient and friendly.

    Jessica Kovarik is one of a kind. She is compassionate, thoughtful, and full of knowledge. From the NICU to outpatient she gives everyone her undivided attention and care. She has now seen my daughter and son… I would never go anywhere else!!

    The team was amazing as was Dr. Kovarik. She takes her time, is through, and answers everyone's questions. We drove 45 minutes each way to see her because she's the best! The assistants were also patient and through allowing my son to answer questions instead of speeding the exam along.
