Hi, my name is Joseph Deily. I'm a physician assistant in cardiothoracic surgery. I'm originally from South Jersey in a small town called Tabernacle. I joined Lee Health taking care of patients in Southwest Florida over 20 years ago. A reason I decided to join Lee Health was because it had more educational opportunities for me. Something I'm passionate about is educating staff and patients and their families about their disease process, and Lee Health provided that opportunity. I was inspired to take care of patients in heart and lung surgery for the sole reason that my father died when I was a teenager, and it was very difficult not understanding the disease process and the treatment options for him at that time when I was younger and really didn't have any idea what happened or what could have helped him get through that better. So it was an easy decision for me when I decided to pursue medicine to pursue that with the interest of helping patients understand that time, that difficult time in their lives, and in heart and lung surgery, everything's a serious issue. Patients need a lot of care. A lot of responsibility comes with this job, and I take it very seriously, and I really dedicated my life to kind of help patients have a better process through that difficult time. What do I like to do for fun? I enjoy fishing. I enjoy golfing. I like to be outdoors. Probably my most favorite thing to do is travel. I like to go places where I can get outdoors and hike with my wife and family members and friends, and I never will turn down a day at the beach.
