Biography

Dr. Matt Fishman, MD, FAAOS, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in sports medicine and shoulder surgery.  He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at William Beaumont Hospital (#9 Orthopaedic Hospital by US News) and was then selected to subspecialize in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the world-renowned Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute (#7 Orthopaedic Hospital by US News).

During fellowship training, Dr. Fishman participated in the care of the L.A. Lakers (NBA), L.A. Kings (NHL), Anaheim Ducks (NHL), L.A. Sparks (WNBA), and the University of Southern California (NCAA) among other junior colleges and high schools in Southern California.  He has published numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters as well as presented nationally.

Dr. Fishman is an experienced, compassionate, and relatable physician who strives to teach his patients about their problem so they can make the informed decision on which specific treatment plan available they wish to pursue.  He is committed to treat all patients with the best care utilizing up-to-date, evidence-based medicine and techniques.  Ultimately, he achieves maximum success in the least invasive way possible.

    Dr. Fishman offered a very cookie cutter approach to my problem. I am an active person with a desire for the best outcomes and his approach was very cavalier and standard. When telling him that I wanted not to just mask the [ ] but work toward a real solution, his response was, "then be reborn" basically saying that at 47 years old, I would have to be reborn to solve my problem so I should just live with it. Coconut Point was nice as always. The facility is always clean and beautiful and the staff were kind and prompt.

    The PA I saw first was amazing! He took the time to explain everything to me and answer all my questions. He didn't make me feel rushed. I was a bit confused when he came in since the appointment was with the doctor, but it turned out great! He's a blessing to your staff for sure! It was nice that Dr Fishman still stopped in did a quick double check, and talked with me for a few minutes. I feel very comfortable with what we discussed & felt more positive than I had with my previous doctor. Thank you for a great exoerience
