Dr. Paul Mitchell has a tenured and accomplished career in pediatric ophthalmology stemming from his fellowship at Children's National Medical Center in Washington D.C 1977. He became Senior Attending Surgeon at the Conneticut Children's Medical Center where he practiced ocular muscle surgery, and later the Assistant Clinical Professor in Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of Conneticut Health Center where he served six area hospitals evaluating infants for retinopathy of prematurity. Dr. Mitchell has been an editor and contributor to Duane's Clinical Ophthalmology, a reference volume used worldwide, publishing hundreds of medical illustrations pertaining to ocular disorders and surgical procedures.
A grandfather to nine children with a wife of fifty years, he has devoted thirty years of volunteer services to the American School for the Deaf and the Oak Hill School for the Blind.
Repeatedly, he has been nominated by his peers and honorably distinguished for inclusion in the "Best Doctors in America" listing, based on his surgical and clinical prowess.
