Meet the Doctor

Hi I am Randall buss. I’m a cardiothoracic surgeon here here in Fort Myers. My hometown is Orlando Florida. When I grew up in Orlando, Florida, we used to vacation in southwest Florida and I always knew that’s where I wanted to live. I moved to Fort Myers and joined Lee Health 25 years ago in 1998. This is a superb hospital system which focuses on cardiac surgical care and cardiology care in our large population of patients. It’s the premium organization in southwest Florida to have your heart cared for. I was a medical student in Alabama in the 1980s and I spent six weeks on a surface run by Dr. John Kirkland. Dr. Kirkland was one of the first cardiac surgeons to use the heart-lung machine successfully any start at the Mayo Clinic program in the 1950s. As a matter of fact, for about a year, there’s only two places in the world you could have heart surgery they were 30 miles apart, one was in Rochester, Minnesota with Dr. Kirkland in the mayo clinic, and the second one was in Minneapolis. I just loved cardiac surgery there and I knew that’s where I wanted to be. For recreation I really like to be outside. Southwest Florida is beautiful all year I like the hot I like a little bit cooler I like to go fishing and I like to go to the beach. I like to spend time with my family. That’s what I really enjoy most when I’m off.

From the moment we walked in until we left was nothing but warm, welcoming, and friendly. Of course, my [ ] was high, given the circumstances of the visit but that was quickly overcome by everyone we met especially Dr Buss and Suzanne. Thanks to everyone for m aking this visit less stressful.
