Hi, I'm Robert Limbaugh. I'm an addiction medicine physician. I've been practicing addiction medicine for four years after initially doing emergency medicine for 27 years. I was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. Following graduation from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, I moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, did my residency at LSU in emergency medicine, practiced emergency medicine for 27 years, decided to go back and do addiction medicine.

At that time, you could either go back and just start and do a clinical route. However, I thought the best thing to do would be go back and do a fellowship. So at the age of 61, I went back and did a fellowship at Tulane University in addiction medicine. There are two reasons I chose addiction medicine. One of the reasons was working in the emergency department for so long. There was so much addiction going on, and we really didn't have much to help people with.

Addiction medicine is a very new field. We found out that it's a disease process, and I just felt the need to help people. The second reason I went back to do it was in the 90s, my brother became addicted to opioids, and he overdosed on October 31, 1994. And I felt like if I could prevent one of those, then it would be a good day. I came to Lee Health in late 2023. I interviewed down here looking for an addiction medicine position at a facility that had really state-of-the-art addiction medicine treatment. Everywhere I looked, Lee Health recovery medicine is by far the most advanced and best program I have seen.

I like to go do outdoor sports. I love to run. I love kayaking. I like going to the beach, and that's something we can do a year round here. I also like to fly private airplanes, and one of the best flights you can ever do is to get in a plane and just fly up and down the coast on a Sunday morning. It's just absolutely spectacular.

    Dr. Limbaugh is an amazing physician. He truly listens to his patients and takes the time to fully understand their health concerns. He is extremely knowledgeable and addresses all issues and treats his patients accordingly. He is my favorite doctor.

It’s rare to find addiction treatment doctors who are willing to treat patients with the level of dignity and empat hy that Dr Limbaugh and staff treats me with!

    This needs to be said: In the 8(plus) years I’ve been on [ ], I’ve NEVER encountered both a doctor and their office staff who are anywhere near as kind, empathetic, and helpful as Dr Limbaugh, and his staff are, both to me, and to other patients(that I’ve noti ced). I wish I was able to thank them more than merely saying “thanks”, and filling out this assessment, and someday soon, when my life stabilizes, again,!I certainly will. However, for now, this recognition and show of deep appreciation will have to suffice.

    I have been in search of a Dr. since moving from [ ] 6 years ago and I have been through the ringer until meeting Dr. Limbaugh!!! He treated me like a person not a number, spoke to/with me not at me and I felt as an equal human being not inferior to me! Also h e has a [ ] which speaks volumes to me n I dig it!!!! Thank you to the entire staff from my heart!!!

    He was the only one that listened to my needs ,I came to him [ ] and my son is now [ ] and he has been caring and consistent the whole time ,I came to him with a extreme concern for me and my [ ] and I left the office that day finally with a piece of mind that I was doing the right thing,he also went beyond his office duties and tried to get information for me to give a third party in why my [ ] and I were in danger if I didn't stay on the [ ] that was needed he also typed up a information letter to help me that I could give to a third party,he really cared and was concerned and he showed it genuinely every time we talked

    I was absolutely shocked by the request to submit to a [ ], not to mention a request to meet with a social worker. This is completely out of line for someone with moderate [ ]. It’s clearly geared to a much more severe issue. Well, I really liked my doctor, I may switch to a facility more geared to dealing with my type of cases
