Meet the Doctor

My name is Dr. Tobin Hanson. I’m an orthopedic surgeon with Lee Health. I’m originally from Hermiston Oregon. I joined Lee Health in August of 2022. In the process of relocating my family from quite a distance, I searched I would say high and low of where to work for. In the process of interviewing, I found Lee Health to be very accommodating, cared a lot about the physician as well as the patients. Certainly sunny south Florida doesn’t hurt. So when I was younger, I grew up in a small town in Oregon and had a good relationship with my primary care doctor, actually my family doctor. Initially entering medical school that was my plan. I kind of wanted to re-emulate that, I enjoyed that relationship. In the process, I realized I kind of like sports, I like dealing with athletes. I like dealing with I would say putting people back together and getting them back to the activities they enjoy. I rotated with a primary care sports medicine doctor when I was in Arizona at medical school and I found all the good stuff went to his partners who happened to be orthopedic surgeons. And in that process, I really developed a love for exactly that, putting people back together and getting them back to things they enjoy and so that’s what I chose to become. Outside of work, I really enjoy golfing. Getting the opportunity to move to southwest Florida, I live in a golfing community and love that. Get to play golf a couple of times a week. I enjoy sports, watching, playing most any kind of sports and in time, I would like to get back into actually getting my pilot’s license. I owned an airplane in Oregon. The weather was not very conducive among having 3 children at the time, so I wasn’t able to complete that, but I hope to do that in the future as well.

I was unable to reach assigned staff within reasonable time for questions I had. One person (Alex) was my go-to guy. He is very knowledgeable and knows who to contact for answers and was able to assist me multiple times.
