Volunteer Opportunities Lee Memorial Hospital

Below are the job opportunities for our volunteers to choose from. Jobs are classified as patient contact where you will have direct patient contact or non-patient contact where you will be providing clerical/information support. Work shifts typically run 8:00-12:00, 12:00-4:00, 4:00-8:00 (some exceptions). Shifts are subject to change based on staffing and scheduling needs.


Lee Memorial Hospital

  • All Star Joint Center (non-patient) - Assisting staff with walking with patients, meal-time, restocking supplies and running errands
  • Ambassador & Ambassador Transporter (non-patient) - Welcome and escort patients/visitors to their destination, keep supply of wheelchairs in lobby, coordinate calls for trolley as needed, assist information desk volunteers as needed
  • Arts in HealthCare (non-patient) - Includes all forms of art. Examples include: craft projects with patients at the bedside, helping with community art shows and clowning
  • Bright Ideas Gift Shop (non-patient) - Running cash register, waiting on customers and re-stocking inventory
  • Cardiovascular Transport (patient) -Transporting patients to and from department. Must have current Basic Life Support certificate from the American Heart Association
  • Clerical Support (non-patient) - Assist in various departments with answering phones, greeting customers, filing and making copies
  • Courier (non-patient) -Transporting items to various locations throughout hospital and assisting with discharging patients
  • Central Supply Courier (non-patient) - Retrieve and clean equipment from various nursing units and return to Sterile Processing
  • Crafts (non-patient)—Provide homemade items for patients including but not limited to, shawls, blankets, quilts, and baby hats. Items can be made from home
  • Customer Service Clerical (non-patient) - Provide clerical and reception support for Customer Service and act as a resource for all
  • Guest Services Representative (patient) - Visits and welcomes patients newly admitted to the hospital; assesses that needs are being met; informs the patient/family of various services offered by LMHS; acts as liaison between patients, their family and LMHS staff and promotes a positive customer image
  • Emergency Department (patient) - Greet patients and visitors. Assists patients in getting registered. Attend to visitors and patients in waiting area. Or work in the patient treatment area assisting staff with room turnover and restocking supplies
  • Food & Nutrition Service (non-patient) - Assist in cafeteria as needed, cleaning table, wipe trays, restocking
  • Infusion Center (patient) - Assist staff by tending to the patients, lab runs, and keeping supplies stocked
  • Medical Library (non-patient) - Assist patrons and Librarian with researching data bases for information. Must be able to use computer. Use Internet, e-mail, fax and phone to communicate with library patrons and with other libraries. Check in/out books fill requests for copies of articles
  • Outpatient Registration (non-patient) - Greet patients and families in waiting area signing them in, escorting patients and running errands
  • Partners-Patient Care Units (patient) - Run errands to lab and Central Supply Room. Answer call lights, run to mailroom and general errands
  • Pet Therapy (patient) – Must successfully complete and be certified with Therapy Dogs, Inc. Dog must be at least 1-year of age and have current vaccinations
  • Plant Operations (non-patient) - Assist in making facility rounds to assure a safe EOC, provide minor repairs
  • Popcorn Popper (non-patient) - Make and sell popcorn in the lobby area. Clean machine after each shift. Popper is required to pop either outside double glass doors or within the Food Services kitchen
  • Post Office (non-patient) - Fully functional facility; handle money, make change, learn postal procedures and computer
  • Pre-Procedural Testing (non-patient) - Greeting patients and families in waiting area signing them in, escort patients and run errands
  • Same Day Surgery Recovery (patient) - Assisting staff when patients come out of surgery. Getting patients something to drink, warm blanket, restocking supplies, room turnover, discharging patients by wheelchair
  • Sterile Processing Department (non-patient) - Service operating room, picking cases for surgery, retrieving used supplies and restocking
  • Surgery Services (non-patient) - Running lab specimens, getting supplies from Sterile Processing and giving updates to family members in waiting room
  • Surgery Information Desk (non-patient) - Greeting and checking in families, taking families to the holding area to see patient before surgery
  • Trolley Driver (non-patient) - Driving golf cart around parking lot to pick up and drop off patients and visitors. Valid Driver’s License, clear driving record and annual eye exam are required
  • Volunteer Resources (non-patient) - Greet visitors, answer phone, call references, computer work, and filing

Offsite Facilities (Apply through LMH)

  • Child Development Center – Daycare facility for staff children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Provide reception, clerical and check-in support. Assist staff as needed. Located off of Clifford Street, 1 block North of Lee Memorial. Fingerprinting and background check required
  • Clerical Support – Assist departments with answering phones, greeting customers, filing, making copies, etc
  • Food Concierge (non-patient) – Support café during peak lunch period, run cash register and set and breakdown catering events
  • Fort Myers Wellness Center and Rehab Center (non-patient) - Ensure a clean and orderly work station, wiping down mats, tables, ankle weights, balance equipment; straighten boots in between patients, keep waiting are neat and orderly; stock rooms
  • Human Resources Employment Center (non-patient) – Contact potential candidates, assist with recruitment events, typing, file maintenance, job posting and administrative duties as needed
  • Lee Cancer Care Greeter (non-patient) - Greet and escort patients to treatment areas
  • Lee Physician Group (non-patient) - Located throughout Lee & Collier County
  • Lobby Greeter – Assist patients and visitors with getting checked in, filling out forms, keeping the waiting room tidy and working with staff on various projects
  • Regional Cancer Center and the Outpatient Surgery Center (non-patient) – Greet, assist and direct patients, families and visitors. assemble charts, stock supplies, filing and making copies
