Ever wonder, how do I get my child to eat more vegetables? Get more sleep? Or, even how do I know if they are experiencing signs of asthma? “There are a lot of sources for information today,” said Armando Llechu, chief administrative officer of Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.
Health experts at Golisano Children’s Hospital decided to give free answers to family’s countless questions-- Answers that can be found online or throughout the community. “There really isn’t a magazine in our community solely dedicated to pediatric health and wellness issues, and we really felt that it was our responsibility as the children’s hospital of the region to put one together,” said Llechu.
The information inside the Kids First magazine is provided by local health experts at Golisano Children’s Hospital. “Most of the content is being provided by physicians, nurses, EMT’s. We’ve got nutrition in there, talking about recipes, how to get your kids eating vegetables,” he explained.
The articles are designed to help educate families on how to keep kids healthy and safe. “There’s no question that the information is evidence-based and accurate,” said Llechu.
In addition to the magazine, Golisano Children’s Hospital also offers other free benefits to the community, including autism screenings, EKG screenings, parenting classes, and car seat education. “We want to be the community’s partner, and it is our professional and social responsibility to give back every way we can,” he said.
