Medical Library Databases

The Medical Library at Lee Health provides remote access to its electronic resources to Lee Health employees and to physicians on staff. Some of the databases require passwords. Contact any of our branches to obtain your IDs and passwords. (No passwords are needed when using library computers or accessing databases via IntraLee, Citrix connection, or Athens Log-in.

DynaMed Plus

Created by physician for physicians and other health-care providers clinical reference tool for use primary at the "point-of-care". Truly evidence-based database updated daily answers most clinical questions during practice. Requires password. Offers CME credits and is available as a mobile application after registering on IntraLee:

How to Register

  • Select "Sign in/Create Account" in the upper right-hand corner of the screen on the Databases page of the Medical Library website
  • Provide your name, email address and specialty
  • You will receive a time sensitive e-mail from DynaMed Plus to set up your password.
  • Once the password is created, you can log in to DynaMed Plus at with your e-mail address and password from any browser, on any device from anywhere

How to download a mobile application:

  • Go to Apple or Google Play store and search for DynaMed Plus, NOT DynaMed Mobile.
  • Download and open the app – you will reach a login screen
  • Enter your Personal Account user name and password (see instruction above on creating it, if you don’t have it yet) –content will begin downloading automatically
  • Choose to download content with or without images. You can also bookmark topics, take notes, print and email content.
  • Note: We highly recommend being on a wireless network for the initial download of content.

Clinical Key

Provides comprehensive and fast answers using intuitive search method. A single search retrieves relevant information from 1,000+ full-text books, 500+ full-text journals, videos, graphs, guidelines, patient education library, drug publications, and Medline abstracts. Provides CME credits.

Requires User ID and a Password to open/save book chapters and journal articles in PDF format, to earn CME credit hours, and to download a mobile application. Register on the Clinical Key home page on IntraLee.

First time visitors to Clinical Key via Athens need to complete these 4 steps:

  • Sign into MyAthens with your Athens user name and password
  • Select Clinical Key from the All Resources menu
  • On Clinical Key,
  • Click the Activate Personalization link in the upper-right corner of the web page
  • Complete the brief Registration
  • Second time visitors to Clinical Key via Athens only need to sign into Athens and then go to Clinical Key:
    • Sign into MyAthens with your Athens user name and password
    • Select Clinical Key from the All Resources menu

ACS Online Video Library

Video recordings of peer-reviewed surgical procedures previously presented at a Clinical Congress - updated annually. For Surgeons on staff at Lee Health only. Request the log-in information from the Medical Library at

  • American Academy of Pediatrics-Pediatric Core Online, database for pediatricians, includes Red Book, as well as pediatric patient education handouts in English and in Spanish. Mobile applications of scaled down version of Red Book and of Pediatric Patient Education available. You must first sign in to the Pediatric Core Online on the Library website on intralee (upper right) with your AAP user ID and a password. If you don't have it, you may create your account here. Then, go to your app store or to google play and download the applications at no cost.
  • American Diabetes Association’s (ADA)  -collection of Diabetes-specific medical and clinical e-books backed by the Association's Standards of Care. Request a user ID and a password to access it remotely and to download the collection on your mobile device. Directions are published on ADA's site. This collection is not accessible via Athens.
  • PEMSoft - Designed by pediatricians and other medical specialists, PEMSoft is a point-of-care clinical information resource covering the entire spectrum of neonatal, infant, child, adolescent and young adult health. Information about free trial of PEMSoft Mobile is available on PEMSoft home page.
  • CINAHL Complete - Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature offers fast and easy access to top nursing and allied health journals, evidence-based care sheets and quick lessons. Besides bibliographic citations, abstracts and full-text articles from more than 1,300 journals indexed in CINAHL, it also contains continuing education modules evidence-based sheets quick lessons providing overviews of disease and conditions, and research instruments.
  • Culture Vision - comprehensive database that gives healthcare professionals access to culturally competent patient care the information about prevalence of diseases within certain populations, and provides guidance in understanding cultural influences on what patients believe will make them well. It identifies impact of cultural issues on medical decision-making and limits inadvertent bias in diagnosis and treatment. It Identifies questions to ask that will yield better health outcomes and improves communication where language barriers may exist. – available on IntraLee
  • BoardVitals - NCLEX-RN   - the interactive tool allows for decreased study time, with everything organized under one platform and the best questions to study listed up front. With BoardVitals, you have the ability to create customized practice tests using many options including number of questions, subjects and more. Also included are detailed, up-to-date explanations with each answer, with references and links to applicable sources. You need to use your Lee Health e-mail address to register|
    NOTE: for optimal performance, this resource is best used with Firefox or Chrome.
    Your account will be active for six (6) month, after which you need to register again.
  • Cochrane Collection Plus - comprehensive collection of evidence-based databases from the Cochrane Library includes:
    • NHS Economic Evaluation - information on the costs and effects of drugs, treatments, procedures, the cost-benefit analysis of two or more different medical treatments
    • Health Technology Assessments - provides details of completed and ongoing health technology assessments (studies of the medical, social, ethical and economic implications of healthcare interventions) from around the world
    • Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials - bibliography of controlled trials includes reports published in conference proceedings and in many other sources not currently listed in MEDLINE® or other bibliographic databases
    • Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews - full-text articles and protocols on effects of healthcare - updated quarterly
    • Cochrane Methodology Register - bibliography of publications which report on methods used in the conduct of controlled trials contains studies of methods used in reviews and more general methodological studies which could be relevant to anyone preparing systematic reviews
    • Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects - abstracts of published systematic reviews on the effects of health care from around the world
  • Natural Medicines - (evidence-based databases of alternative therapies, herbs, vitamins, and supplements) - requires password.

  • Natural Medicines Newsletter - On the Natural Medicine home page, hold your mouse over "news". An option "e-newsletter" will appear from the drop down menu. Click on "e-newsletter" and register to receive the free subscription. Sign up to receive the free subscription here

  • Stat!Ref - (full-text medical, nursing, coding, laboratory diagnosis interpretation books) - requires password. Accessible from mobile devices with same password. Includes BoardVitals - NCLEX-RN, which requires separate registration on IntraLee.

  • Drug Information Portal   - (National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health database of information about over 12,000 selected drugs, dietary supplements and herbs, drugs of abuse, investigational drugs, over-the-counter drugs, and clinical trials for clinicians and consumers).
  • National Cancer Institute - Cancer-related health information for professionals and for consumers in English and in Spanish.
  • Free Medial Journals - (access to selected full-text medical journals, as supplied by publishers).
