A Shared Vision of Excellence and Compassion

The Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida - a standalone, state-of-the-art facility that opened in 2017 - is on a mission to deliver vital and lifesaving care for children and their families throughout the region. Our highly trained staff believes that every child is special. Children deserve innovative care in an environment that soothes anxiety and fear. All of us - doctors, nurses, advocates, social workers, and volunteers - share that vision and care for you like family.

As the only children’s hospital between Tampa and Miami, Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida delivers vital and lifesaving care for children and their families. Our highly trained team members are motivated by the belief that every child is special and deserves the best care possible.

Once housed inside HealthPark Medical Center, the children’s hospital became a standalone 300,000-square-foot, 7-story facility in 2017 thanks to a groundbreaking $20 million gift from philanthropist Tom Golisano. It now provides a variety of specialized services – from emergency care to behavioral health, surgery to critical care, orthopedics, cancer treatment, cardiology, pediatric neurosurgery, and more.

The hospital is a member of Children’s Miracle Network, a nonprofit organization that raises funds for children’s hospitals across the nation. Local donations to the Children’s Miracle Network stay in Southwest Florida to support Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Not sure where to start when preparing for your visit?

Here are some helpful tips to help your child and family prepare for your visit and to help them feel more comfortable:

  • Ask guest services for a tour of the facility to help your child prepare
  • Ask about our child life services offerings and our facility dogs
  • Talk with your family about what to expect and how to best prepare for your visit
  • Highlight similarities between the hospital and home such as food options, having their own bed, access to TV and more
  • Pack familiar favorites such as books and toys that help your child feel comfortable and safe

Staying in an unfamiliar place can be challenging for both children and their families. To ensure your child is comfortable during their visit, it helps to know what to expect and what you should bring. Golisano Children's Hospital rooms are each furnished with a phone, telephone, and accessible Wi-Fi, but we understand that may not be enough to keep your child and family comfortable and entertained.

Here are items to bring items for comfort and entertainment:

  • Medications in their original prescription bottles. Continue to take them as prescribed unless instructed otherwise.
  • Entertainment items such as favorite books, cards, board games, or anything your child enjoys doing that will help pass the time.
  • Magazines or schoolwork
  • Favorite toy, blanket, or other comfort item
  • Tablets or laptops and their chargers
  • Pajamas and comfortable clothing. Your top should button or zipper down the front rather than go over your head.
  • Personal toiletry items (toothbrush, toothpaste, hand cream, etc.)

Please note that personal electronic devices should NOT be plugged into outlets at the head of the patient's bed – these outlets are for clinical use only.

Lee Health is ready to assist you before, during, and after your visit to Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida. Prior to your visit, please contact our guest services team for assistance in understanding what to expect and what to bring.

Upon entering the main hospital, you will be warmly greeted by friendly and helpful staff near the front entrance. Adult visitors will need to present a state ID for badging. Once you obtain your visitor's badge, you will be directed to your designated destination.
