Remote Access to the Library E-Resources

The Medical Library at Lee Health provides access to its electronic resources to Lee Health employees and to physicians on Lee Health staff from their home computers and mobile devices.

Pass-Free Access to Databases:

Physicians on staff at Lee Health and Mid-level providers, ARNPs, PA, CNMs, may now access Medical Library online resources from their home computers without passwords. The users need to access Medical Library WEB site on IntraLee using Citrix Access Gateway software, which they may obtain from Information Services: 343-7900 at no charge. Single Password Access via ATHENS is designed for nurses and support staff.

 We recommend that our medical staff continue accessing the Medical Library online resources via their current method unless they intend to save the full-text articles on their personal computers. 

Request Athens User ID with

Provide the following information: your name, Lee Health employee number, your phone number, your e-mail address. Athens will send you a user ID and a link to the site, where you can set up your password.

Athens may be accessed from   Click on Athens Access to Online Resources on the Library menu on the right.

Note that if you get a rejected message when trying to access full text from A-Z journal portal or from PubMed, look for an ATHENS log-in link and click on it.  See EXAMPLE below:

Mobile Library

Following databases are available from mobile devices:

DynaMed Plus-  a clinical reference tool created by physicians for physicians and other health care professionals for use primarily at the point-of-care. With clinically-organized summaries for nearly 3,000 topics, DynaMed is the only evidence-based reference shown to answer most clinical questions during practice. Offers CMEs. - application

Natural Medicines (formerly Natural Standard) - Evidence-Based database of alternative therapies, herbs, vitamins, supplements, interactions - application

BoardVitals - NCLEX-RN - the interactive tool allows for decreased study time, with everything organized under one platform and the best questions to study listed up front. With BoardVitals, you have the ability to create customized practice tests using many options including number of questions, subjects and more. Also included are detailed, up-to-date explanations with each answer, with references and links to applicable sources. When using it for the first time, you need to register. - mobile-enabled requires password.

NOTE: for optimal performance, this resource is best used with Firefox or Chrome.

You must use your Lee Health e-mail address as your User Id. Your account will be active for six (6) month, after which you need to register again.

PubMed (National Library of Medicine's bibliographic database of medical, nursing, veterinary, dental journals world-wide) - mobile-enabled does not require password

STAT!Ref Electronic Medical Library (full-text medical and nursing books, dictionaries, coding books, laboratory diagnosis interpretation guides) - mobile-enabled requires password

OVID (Medline, HealthStar, Evidence-Based Medicine databases, full-text books and full-text journals) - mobile-enabled requires password

MedlinePlus (consumer oriented database of health information, also available in Spanish and in over 40 other languages) - mobile-enabled does not requires password

To request a free subscription to e-journals, select titles from the LIST (OVID) and send it to Medical Library along with Remote Access Request Form.

You may sign up for additional 500 + online journals through
Clinical Key
database from the Medical Library website on INTRALee:

 You may sign up for an additional 500 + online journals through Clinical Key database from the Medical Library website on IntraLee by following these steps:

From the menu, select DATABASES, scroll down to Clinical Key, register at the upper right corner, if you have not done it yet. Click on Journals (under the search window) and select the journal which you would like to receive.  When the new page opens, click on “New Issue Alerts: Subscribe” under the title of the journal.  You will receive an e-mail with a table of content when a new issue of that journal is published.  From there, you will be able to open full-text articles.
