Blood sugars that are regularly over 200 increase the risk of having a surgical wound infection, can slow down healing, and increase your chance of stroke or death. symptoms of high blood sugars include being constantly thirsty, tired, cramps, dizziness, blurred vision, headache or nausea. Your A1C level can tell you how well you've been doing keeping your blood sugars under control. If your A1C is above six, you have opportunity for improvement which can subsequently improve your surgical outcome. These are the key ways to get your blood sugar under control.
