We offer education programs that give you and your loved ones the knowledge you need to manage your condition and live well. Our goal is to empower you with the right tools, resources, and care to face each day with confidence.

Parkinson 101

parkinson educationDiscover our helpful introduction to the fundamentals of Parkinson’s Disease. Offered quarterly, this class is a perfect place to start for those who are new to the program, and includes a discussion of:

  • Parkinsonism versus Parkinson’s
  • How Parkinson’s is diagnosed 
  • 4 cardinal motor signs of Parkinson’s
  • Symptoms you don’t see (non-motor symptoms)
  • Medical and complementary therapies used to treat Parkinson’s disease
  • Local and national resources


Annual Symposium

Every year, members join us for an exciting day of education and empowerment. This day-long seminar is your chance to learn from local and national experts. The Symposium typically begins with a chance to mingle with Parkinson’s organizations offering resources, adaptive technologies, and medical therapies. The featured speakers are followed by a helpful Question and Answer session.

PD Enrichment Groups

Our monthly Enrichment Group provides an ongoing opportunity to learn new information from area experts, ask questions, and share experiences.

Topics are always changing; past presentations have included Taking Action for a Happier Life, Holistic Health, and Home Safety Tips and Tricks. Let us know if there is a subject that interests you!

FGCU Share and Care Events

The Florida Gulf Coast University’s Masters of Occupational Therapy Program offers informative presentations for our members. These classes are provided at no charge.

They cover the use of adaptive equipment, issues with mobility, and other relevant topics from the field of occupational therapy.
