Movement Classes for Parkinson’s Disease

parkinson movement classExercise is the key to living well with Parkinson's Disease (PD). Some experts believe it may slow the progression of disease. Attend classes in person – or online in the comfort of your own home via Zoom. Always consult your physician before starting any new exercise program.

Parkinson's Exercise Classes

Members with Parkinson’s have the option to attend bi-weekly exercise classes available virtually and at three locations in-person in Cape Coral, Ft. Myers and Estero.

Water Aerobics for Parkinson’s Disease

For people with PD, water aerobics can be a great option. In the water, you can concentrate on your movements, rather than the risk of falling. Water provides an excellent source of resistance, challenging you to improve your balance and coordination in a low-impact environment.

Classes at the Cape Coral WellWay center are provided at no cost to our members, thanks to the generous support of the Thompson Family.

Tai Chi for Parkinson’s Disease

An evidence-based workshop, “Tai Chi for Better Balance,” may be available at different times throughout the year.

Through Tai Chi, participants learn key concepts to maintain or regain mobility, increase strength, and balance, and reduce the risk of falling. All fitness levels are welcome, and no prior experience is needed. Movements may be modified to match your level of ability – some participants may be assisted or seated for the class.
