Peer Support Program for the Cancer Patient

The Cancer Institute Peer Support Program provides a compassionate, peer mentor volunteer who can share their experiences, offer information, and provide confidential emotional support. Please keep in mind that our volunteers do not offer medical advice.

You're Not Alone, We're Here Locally

A cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming, our team connects you with others who have faced similar challenges. This local support network can be a source of tremendous comfort during the cancer journey.

Interested in becoming a peer support volunteer?

If you’re passionate about helping others and making meaningful connections, consider applying to join our volunteer team.

To qualify as a peer support volunteer, you should have strong listening and communication skills and the ability to share from your personal experience. After applying, you'll participate in an initial interview to assess whether this role is a good fit for you.

If selected, volunteers will be expected to:

  • Uphold the values and mission of the Lee Health Cancer Institute.
  • Complete and sign training documents.
