Prenatal and Baby Care Classes

In-person classes are now being offered.  

Understand the birthing process, choices in obstetrics, birthing fundamentals, breathing, relaxation, Cesarean preparation, breastfeeding fundamentals, and mother/baby care.

Lee Health offers different childbirth education classes, taught by nationally certified nurses, to give you the tools and support you need at every stage of pregnancy, birth and beyond.

YoMingo Pregnancy and Parenting Course

Lee Health offers education through YoMingo, a program designed to give you convenient access to valuable information. 

YoMingo gives you access to:

  • Evidence-based education on pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and newborn care
  • Information specific to your arrival and stay at Cape Coral Hospital or HealthPark Medical Center
  • Community health resources
  • List of available classes and support groups
  • Pregnancy milestones
  • Kick counter
  • Contraction timer
  • Feeding log
  • Personal journal

  • Once you have clicked the link, you will be asked to answer a few questions, then click “Submit”.
  • You will receive an email invitation to log into YoMingo that contains a link, your user name, and your temporary password. You will be required to create a new password upon the first login.
  • Once you have logged in the first time, you can access YoMingo on any device that has an internet connection, or you may also download the free “MyYoMingo” app from the Droid or iPhone play app store on your device, then log into the app using the same user name and password.
  • If you ever forget your password, just go to the login page on your web browser, myyomingo.com, or open up your app, and click “Forgot password” and then you can re-set it.

Traditional Childbirth Preparation Class. 

This class will provide four hours of traditional classroom instruction. The class will be offered on Fridays and Saturdays.

The cost of the childbirth preparation classes are $60 per couple.

You are encouraged to complete your classes within 3-4 weeks before your due date.

Breastfeeding Class

This class will provide 2 hours of traditional classroom instruction. Breastfeeding classes take place monthly throughout the year. All classes are taught by board-certified lactation consultants.

The cost of the breastfeeding class is $20 per couple.

Baby Care & Car Seat Safety

This is a private session and is perfect for expecting first-time parents and/or grandparents. The cost is $25 for the expecting parents and a support person. Learn the basics of infant care and ways to prevent injuries occurring in children, including car seat safety.

Preparing for Your Cesarean

This free 1 hour in-person or virtual class is taught by obstetric nurses at Lee Health and describes our Enhanced Recovery after Cesarean (ERAC) program.

The class will prepare you for what to expect before, during and after your cesarean. These classes are offered in-person, virtually through WebEx or you can listen to a prerecorded class

Pediatric CPR & First Aid

This certification course teaches individuals to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. The course covers first aid as well as infant and child CPR.

This course is intended for parents, grandparents, child-care providers, and/or anyone else who regularly comes in contact with children. After successful completion of this course, you will receive an American Heart Association Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course completion card, valid for two years.

Classes take place from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on select Saturdays throughout the year. The cost is $60 per student.  This class is non-refundable, but to re-schedule call 239-343-5101 for Lee County or 239-254-5960 for Collier County. 

Safe Sitter® Courses

Safe Sitter® teaches adolescent baby sitters how to handle problems, how to keep their charges secure and how to nurture and guide a young child. In short, Safe Sitter® babysitters help children stay safe and sound while their parents are away.

This is a medically oriented instruction course that teaches boys and girls in grades 6-8 techniques for safe babysitting. Rescue breathing, choking, safety and first aid for the infant and child are a few of the many topics covered. The cost of the class is $50 per student.
