Your voice matters!

The U.S. census, which takes place every 10 years, may seem like just another form to fill out – but your participation helps ensure funding for many essential programs in Lee County and Southwest Florida.

Did you know:

Because of an undercount in 2010, Florida missed out on nearly $200 million? Please complete your census online between March and April 1, 2020, and help our community get federal funding necessary to support 16 vital programs:

  • Medicaid
  • Medicare part B
  • Supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP)
  • Highway Planning and Construction
  • Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers
  • Title I Grants to Local Education Agencies
  • National School Lunch Program
  • Special Education Grants (IDEA)
  • State Children’s Health Insurance (S_CHIP)
  • Head Start/Early Head Start
  • Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
  • Section 8 Housing Assistance Payments Program
  • Health Center Programs (Community, Migrant, Homeless, Public Housing)
  • Foster Care (TITLE IV-E)
  • Child Care Development Fund Entitlement
  • Low Income Home Energy assistance (LIHEAP)

With only 74% counted in 2010, Florida missed $946 for every Floridian that wasn’t counted. With only 66% counted in Ft. Myers, $20 million annually in federal funding was lost. Lets not let that happen again!
